Say what you will, but this issue wasn't overly talky.
So obviously Pete isn't dead. Unless we're going to see his body strung up and his head on pike, this is just an excuse to give the series a fresh number 1 and focus it on Peta Parkette over there.
But still let's focus on if I'm wrong. If Marvel really did Kill Peter Parker, the anchor to the line, from one of their current most popular writers and all for a cheap summer crossover that everyone and their mother hates.
Remember when the purpose of the ultimate line wasn't to be different but to have simplified stories so that someone off the street could pick up a book and not have to worry about 40 odd years of continuity?
Regardless, I liked this series, and I think it was the best Super hero book Bendis does. I'm really impressed he was on this book all the way through. It gave this book a very solid unified feel. Immonen was a great artist on this book, as was Bagley before him.
The story in this book was technically proficient. I think it was really rather ballsy to make it silent. The scenes with Kitty and Spiderwoman were really well done and the ending was lke a general giving a flag to a grieving mother. Really well done.
Really the only thing I hated was the direction it was taking, and I am pretty sure Bendis didn't have too much say in it. If Ultimatum didn't suck so bad, this book could have been perfect. As it stands, I can barely look at it.

Yeah, I hate Ultimatum with such a fiery passion that it has been hurting my enjoyment of all the related titles. Can’t wait till this is over with and Loeb hopefully gets out of everyone’s way.
