This was the end of the Spider-Man and Friends arc.  Overall I think this was the best issue, why?  Simple one word answer: Magneto.  He was fantastic in this book and also reminded me why I love the character.

The story pretty much ends the way you expect it to, I wasn’t expecting too much of a twist or anything.  I will say one thing happens that finally brings Liz’s character up to speed with her 616 (Ron is that correct?) counterpart and that is she finally finds out that Peter is Spider-Man.

Just as I was starting to think that I really liked Immonen on the art for this book, I see this issue.  Although it was still good there were lots of panels where characters just look weird.  This man really needs to learn how to draw hair and not make them looks so awkward.  This issue really made me miss Bagley.  All though Immonen was doomed to begin with since Bagley is one of my top 5 artists.  He’s been on a for a while know, but I have a feeling that it’ll be a while before I truly accept him as the artist.

This issue was Ultimate Spider-Man all the way.  It had lots of character interaction and a cameo from the X-Men, who apparently aren’t getting owned by Apocalypse at the moment.  This book was well worth while for at least the end of the book where we find out who Liz’s father is.  All I have to see is the dialog is great and it’s not who you would expect one bit.

Overall though I’m excited for the next story arc.  I felt like this one was fluff until a certain character is suppose to return.  My understanding is that he is suppose to next arc and I can’t wait for horrible things to happen to Peter again.  Sad to say, but this is when the book is at its best.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 3 - Good

  1. I really enjoyed this issue, and agree with you for the most part.  What I think would be interesting, and I’m sure this will happen in the future is when Liz does meet her father.  I wonder how her shallow attitudes would respond to that.

I’ve got to disagree with you on the art.  I really dig Immomen’s style, and the hair isn’t as big an issue to me.  His pencils for Magneto were really awesome.

I’m certainly still enjoying this book much more than the Marvel U book.

  2. I agree Magneto did look awesome.
