okay, has anyone told Jeph Loeb that the Ultimate Universe is NOT the regular Marvel universe? because he doesnt seem to notice that little fact. this issue opens with Zarda (Power Princess from JMS' amazing Squadron Supreme run), who has been living in the Utimate U since Ultimate Power (the 9 issue story where Zarda came here and Nick Fury went to the Squadron Universe to be butchered by Howard Chaykin) fighting the Wecking Crew...now, it would be really cool to see the Wrecking Crew "utlimatized", but here they are simply just the same ole wrecking crew from the regular Marvel U. Annoying, to say the least. and just when she's about to deliver the killing blow to the dude with the crowbar, Cap pops up outa nowhere and tells her to go "discover America". Okay, kinda weak.
Next Zard meets up with Hulk at an Applbees...sorry, Appletites (lame) and they fight and then eat and fornicate. Sigh. my biggest problem with this story is what i mentioned above; this is NOT the regular marvel universe. The scene where the Hulk is in a restraunt and the hostess refuese to serve him becuase he's naked just bothered me. in this universe, the Hulk tore the shit outa NYC, killing thousands of people and becoming Public Enemy #1, not to mention he has a history of extreme fits of violence and is constantly horny. Why would two people (or even a whole restraunt FULL of people) calmly try to tell this guy no? i did not buy that at all (although the hostess' name was Marlo, a nod to Peter David fans, which was kinda cool). Another thing i didnt buy was Cap saying to Zarda that they try to save everyone, even villains. Really? Because i remeber that, in THIS universe, the Ultimate Universe, Cap pretty cool with killing your enemies. Hell, even REGULAR Marvel Cap was getting pretty OK with killing certain enemies before he died. Bendis and Millar need to sit Loeb down and tell him how this Universe works. I mean, both of those guys can go back and forth and they're books always feel like they take place where they're set
The art was pretty good, tho. i will say that.
Art: 4 - Very Good

Amen–this felt more like the Red Hulk title I dropped like a sack of hammers than anything to do with Ultimate Hulk.
Bendis did Ultimatize the Wrecking Crew in the pages of Ult. Spiderman. They cleaned up Roxxon after the first Spidey Omega Red fight. They weren’t bad guys they just did a job and happen to have superpowers. I thought it was genius. Loeb has done this with Ultimates where he doesn’t even write Ult. characters even existing ones he just turns them into 616 characters for no reason at all. Ult. Thor, Valkryie, and Brotherhood for examples.
I think it was actually Damage Control Inc. that cleaned up in Ult. Spidey, not the wrecking crew. That has been the most agrivating thing about Loeb’s run. I would think an editor would sit him down with some charts and stuff and say "see, Jeph, this is Ultimate Hulk, and this is the regular Marvel Hulk. One is kinda dumb and angry, but also has a sweet heart and wants to protect people. The other big big and angry and horny and likes to eat people after he pounds them into mush." Hell, even Bendis writes Reg Spidey and Ult Spidey with slight diffrences.
