I'm going to try separate this review from the long wait between issues for this series (which I know is a big deal to a lot of readers) and just talk about the book itself.  Please bear in mind, however, that if you don't like late books you'll probably want to wait for the trade to pick up this series.

Art Adams continues to impress, as he has done for decades.  His work is always recognizable but never stale and his characters emote better than almost anyone in the business.  There are a couple of splash pages that are packed with emotion (the eating contest, Teddy getting shot, etc.).  When many artists use splash pages to just show a character in a heroic pose Adams uses them to allow the reader access to the main characters' feelings.  I wish we got to see his work more often because it really is wonderful.

The story was moving with some genuine surprises.  I'm not particularly invested in either character, but I found myself feeling for both of them at various points throughout.
