I wasn't too sure how this series was going to go until now, but damn, I'm liking the path it's taking with this issue. I have to say that the time shifting taking place between pages and panels was a bit concerning at first, just because there's so much, and it happens so quickly, but it really gives a more cinematic feel to to the story. As I read it I could see how this would take place on film with flash-backs and forwards all to give a sense of urgency and weight to what is/was/will be (???) happening. Great stuff. Now I can't wait until Thor gets his true powers back and a grander scope of the story unfolds with Odin, Asgard and the rest of the mythos.
I think they're on the right track with this one despite a strange start (Nazis?...really?...ok). And along with the story I really appreciated the art as well, which is to say I thought it was solid, and did a great job of giving Thor, and this world, a realistic and gritty feel.
I'd say the only slight pull-me-out-of-the-story moment was introducing Balder as Dr. Blake. Sometimes the Ultimate storylines try to be brazenly different just to be different. Just to shake things up for the sake of it, not because it makes the story or characters better. But that's a small gripe. Overall a great issue to get the story going in a great direction.

I agree, it was a great little miniseries. I loved all the intricacies and different timelines. I’d be onboard for an ongoing with these characters, although I’m fairly certain Hickman’s the only one who could do it. Have to say I quite liked the Balder revelation, and the intimation that there could be more resurrected Asgardians in mortal form. Nice review, especially since it’s made me keen to go back and reread the whole thing at once.
