I”m not entirely sure why this couldn’t have been Ultimate F4 or a storyline in Ultimate Spiderman, as this isn’t a complete story arc, rather, one that will continue in Ultimate Mystery #1.  Because Marvel loves #1 issues.  And while I’m a little dissapointed that this isn’t exactly an ending, it is still a great action flick style issue.  Apart friom, possibly, Loeb’s Ultimates, all the creators seem to have similar grasps on characters, and what they want to do in the context of this universe.  The Nick Fury here would feel right at home in Millar’s Ultimate Avengers, and I’m very grateful for that.

Sandoval’s art doesn’t excite me at all, but it never pulled me out of the story, either.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 2 - Average

  1. Agreed. I’m just so confused about the Thing’s transformation.
