I picked this up after seeing Wossy on iFanboy last week and I went into this issue already knowing that the writer had admitted that it was too dense and wordy, even though his intention was to get away from the decompressed stuff happening now. This issue took me a good half hour or so to read and I kept flicking backwards to check who’s who (a costume change in the same evening from one of the gangsters comes a little too soon considering the reader hasn’t seen enough of him to recognise the face just yet).

Knowing that Jonathan Ross has admitted that this was too dense and hearing that the next books are slightly less weighty, I’m definitely on board for the rest of this story. As a first attempt at writing a comic book, I’m impressed and I’m interested in seeing whether he can follow through on the promise, both on this story and the promise of more concepts to come.

The art is pretty awesome but, unfortunately, often blocked by the dialogue and narration boxes. I look forward to seeing more of the art as Ross’ writing gets more streamlined.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
