Although the story wasn’t that bad, it wasn’t really the Grimlock that I like. I like the Grimlock who smashes stuff and speaks in the third person. This story picked up from the Shockwave Spotlight story and incorporated elements from other recent TF stories from IDW but I would have much rather seen Grimlock kicking ass than doing another origin/set-up story. Furthermore the art and coloring was very disappointing, I really thought they would have put their best artist on such a fan-favorite character. Some of it was very cleanly drawn but darkly colored while other pages were sketchy and colored mostly in pinks and purples. There didn’t appear to be any reason for the drawing, inking and coloring changes from page to page. Plus the inks of my copy rubbed onto the adjacent page making it look even worse. Finally, I found a spelling mistake, one of the word balloons was pointing to Scorponok when it should have been pointing to Grimlock and one of the word balloons was cut off by the edge of the page. I have come to expect good production with IDW, especially for $3.99 but this issue fell very short.
