I’ve been collecting IDW Transformers since the beginning and was hesitant on the new directions. That being said I’m back on board and more excited for this new run than I was the original IDW reboot of the franchise. It also serves as a great jumping on point. James Roberts & Nick Roche first teamed up for the amazing Last Stand of the Wreckers and are back together for a run on this looking to bring in more obscure fan favorite characters. From everything to the Kevin Maguire tribute cover to the story this was undoubtedly the funniest Transformers comic I’ve read while also mixing the serious side of the Transformers. Anyone who is not only a Transformers fan but also a fan of the Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis & Kevin Maguire JLI run, you have no reason to not be reading this!

  1. Excellent review!! I agree with the assessment of 5/5 and that this is a great jumping on point. I am loving the direction IDW is going, and the time IDW is spending on the transformers all together.

    • Many thanks Vidman! After reading this issue I had to write my first review so your comment is much appreciated. Out of the many Transformers comics I’ve read over the years from Marvel to Dreamwave & now IDW this one is easily one of my favorites. I hate to keep comparing it to the JLI run which is near & dear to my heart; however, I never would have thought that the Transformers would’ve worked with that narrative but with Nick Roche’s art this may be the set-up for something us Transformer fans will truly cherish!
