I am a little confused who is the target audience for some of these Boom-Pixar books. My 4 year old really likes Incredibles book (as do I), but this is a chaotic story where nothing much happend and the kid is really given nothing to connect with.  Still, I can’t find much that an older kid would like.

The whole story is an inside joke about variant toys.  Maybe its aimed at adult collectors?  One of the self-aware toys who is a special variant says he hides from the collectors in the morning, then comes out in the afternoon hoping a kid will pick him.  Another one has become deranged by being returned to the store.

Also the coloring is offputting.  Its very drab in parts, which seems odd for a kids book about talking toys.  Then it is way overdone in other parts.  I recall the Cars book being the same way.  Anyway, if you want a Pixar book a little kid will like, I’d go with Incredibles.
