I only have Wolfman and Perez to blame… my childhood devotion to their The New Teen Titans evokes in me some kind of Pavlovian need to buy every iteration and reboot of this once storied property. After 31 issues of this current Titans – issues that have been overwhelmed by roster changes, creator changes, direction changes – I am done.
It’s clear write Eric Wallace has a plan. I am just not that interested in it. Fabrizio Fiorentino shows flashes of being something special, but cannot finish an entire issue. The storyline is Secret Six-lite, Suicide Squad for a more brutal, less thinking set. Why is this mess called “Titans” anyway? Roy Harper’s presence? Deathstroke’s? Cheshire’s? I don’t know and I no longer care.
Titans is gone from my pull list. I am done.
Actually, I should have dropped this title before this storyline even started: when the current creative team senselessly killed Ryan Choi. That I didn’t is not Marv and George’s fault. That’s completely on me.
