Tiny Titans #1 – how do I feel? I have to admit that I am not a Teen Titans reader, but I was curious about this book for a couple of reasons.
First – Ron and I had the pleasure of meeting the creators when we were in Chicago Rosemont, IL for a convention last summer. They both seemed very excited for the book, so I figured I should be, too.
Second – my wife teaches 2nd grade and I am always on the lookout for books for her class.
After reading it I was a little sad. It is almost too simple. There is no story. There are cute illustrations, but nothing to go along with it. Having read to my wife’s class on a few occasions I have learned that her kids (and others I assume) are very story driven. They like to have something with a little bit of meat in it – more than they like pretty pictures.
Now I am not completely giving up on the book – but I am a little disappointed. I understand this was issue #1 and perhaps they were just trying to introduce all the characters, but the stories or lack thereof were a glaring red flag. Hopefully #2 will keep my attention.
