I had a lot of hope for this book. Punisher, Elektra, Deadpool, Venom being led by my favorite Red Hulk (checkout the iFanboy video). These are five complex and intriguing characters with a lot of potential and this book should leave you on the edge of your seat. Instead the book has been below average from the start.

The best thing so far are the awesome covers done by Julian Totino Tedesco and Billy Tan, that’s it!

Steve Dillon, your either a fan or not of his work. From what I understand, he’s been great on Preacher but that was over 10-years ago. Here is is OK, but as others have pointed out, he draws the same/similar face on every character and with an unflattering look. He has gotten a little better he’s probably more suited for non-super hero’s.

I’m an aspiring writer, so I know a thing or two about plot, goal, motivation, conflict and pacing. Every key element that a successful writer should do is NOT being done in this book. The real problem with Thunderbolts is Daniel Way.

The pacing is very slow, the motivation is vague, the players are put into situations that are resolved off-screen with no clear indication of what happened? The characters that we know and love are hardly recognizable in this book.

I was warned by other fans and they are completely right! I look forward to Phil Noto taking over the art in issue #7, but if Daniel Way continues this, I’m done with the book.

Marvel should have gone with Rick Reminder, Jeff Parker, or Greg Rucka on this book.
