Everyone needs to take a 5 minute break from complaining about DCs new titles and cancellations to read this new title before it gets cancelled.
I’m not sure what the initial draw for people here is supposed to be. Neither “Threshold” nor “the Hunted” are familiar or evocative titles, it is far removed from the action of the rest of the new 52, and it’s priced at $3.99. Maybe the Green Lantern connection is the thing. For me the promise of Giffin doing a fast paced and fun cosmic book was enough to give it a try, and man, am I glad it was. This is signature Giffen – action, one-liners and new characters at every turn. Tom Raney brings it to life with a style that hints at Moebius and Richard Corben, which is perfect for the old-school space-adventure tone. And while I couldn’t previously have had any less interest in Larfleeze, Giffen and Kolins have given the one-note character enough of an interesting supporting cast and set up to make the back up worth the buck.
This won’t yet make up for losing OMAC, but it’s close, and if it sticks around it might get there. Buy it.
