It’s an exciting time to be a Thor fan.

With all the side stories and limited series, it would be easy to get lost in the shuffle, but lucky for us, Matt Fraction’s second issue on the main series has shown the way. This is about to be Marvel’s best series.

The story is epic in scope and it’s just building. Yes it’s another multiverse story, yes there are rips in space/time, new worlds are being mentioned, people are being questioned and everything goes KABOOM, but man this story just works. Kicking up the fantasy edge, using Volstagg’s comedy properly, this book is really coming together to be something special.

And while I still don’t love Ferry’s pencils, this issue is all about the layouts and the colors. It was just pretty to look at, the simple pencils and light colors just work. We’re used to our comics being so dark now. This is refreshing, I want to just LOOK at it.

I’m super excited for where this series is going and I think it’s only going to get better.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. I totally agree. There are so many side Thor stories going on – most of them pretty good – but the main Thor book is starting to look really excellent again. Between the unique story Fraction is setting up and the beautifully colored art, this has been a great start to the run.
