Whilst not dispensing with the science, this issue of the excellent Think Tank is more character driven and benefits from it. Loren, child prodigy and inventor, turned (indirect) mass murderer and slacker, is now (thankfully) more sympathetic, whilst remaining devious, and is fulfilling his potential as one of Top Cow/Image Comics’ best new characters. I am hopeful that the series is a soapbox for Hawkins – a commentary on the ills of science, when exploited by the military-industrial-government complex. On a lighter note, Hawkins demonstrated in the first issue that he could write a cliff-hanger and does so superbly again here. Ekedal’s art matches the tone of this book perfectly – this guy will go far. And the series has been expanded to run for at least 10 issues, instead of the original four. Run, don’t walk, back to your comic shop and buy.
