Before this relaunch, I never read a Transformers comic in my life, especially not one with political intrigue and manipulation instead of lasers and punches. James Roberts has managed to take the silly concept of transforming giant robots, and give depth and weight to the characters, even after the war with the decepticons is over. The art by Alex Miline captures the spirit of the 80's Transformers cartoon, but with facial expressions and simple body language has managed to make them even more believable and allows for you to develop a connection to the remaining Transformers, especially when Starscream decides to join them at the end of the issue. If you never read a Transfomers comic before, now is a great time to try it and not expect a rehash of the movies or past cartoon iterations.
