Transformers, Robots in Disguise #1 so I’ve been looking for a good spot to jump into the transformers universe. It seems I now have my chance to see and read my childhood toys come to life on the page in a brand new comic. Thanks to the awesome art and classic color rendering of Andrew Griffith and Josh Perez. This highly stylized and bright comic came to life in my hands, to see the motion progression of Iron hide in a well plotted double page was beautiful. The colors and lines may not work for other books, but here on transformers its a look that really lets you remember the cartoon and toys of youth. The story, however is maybe not for some younger readers. In this first tale of Robots in Disguise, we see bumblebee at the helm of a loose government that is not totally his. with the inclusion of several familiar characters, and a plot devise that has been at the hart of the entire transformers mythology since the cartoon. Now with a new side of ancient robots from around the universe, we see a more of the hardships and repercussions of a war that has spanned space and time itself. This is as I feel, a serious tale of the transformers. Its more reminiscent of the early movie and cartoon than most of the work in the past. It gave me what felt like a grown up read in a book filled with alien robots I’m very curious to see what direction John Barber takes this one, but you can bet with the transformers universe supporting two new on goings were assured to see some big action. (and many crossovers. IDW is very quick in becoming a staple for my monthly buying. from the new turtle books to the resurrection of my childhood friends, the people at IDW are gonna get a bit more of my attention(and money) over the next few months
