Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt take a page out of the Larry Hama Playbook and give us a silent issue -- they use the temporary deafness of Becky Montcrief to give us an excellent run-and-gun story where she saves Drake Sinclair's bacon and brings the whole goddamn Solomon cave system down around those villainous bastards. They didn't need any dialogue to tell this story, but what nails it is Hurtt's ability to design movement and action so fluidly and cogently. This guy isn't as well regarded as he should be, even among those who are fans of the Mikes Parobeck and Wieringo, and that's a shame. Hurtt's clear storytelling just might be one of the most overlooked gifts in monthly comic work.
