I just can’t get enough of this book!

I love that we finally got Dr. Daghlian’s back-story and I cracked up reading General Groves’ line, “Well, never let it be said that General Leslie Groves would stand in the way of a goddamn presentation.” Having been in the Army for 8 years myself, this was PERFECTLY written in the voice of every general I’ve ever met.

The surprise twist at the end (in the very last panel)was just the cherry on top of my ice cream sundae!

  1. Nice reference to the cherry on top of a sundae 😉

I don’t see how that can be a twist, though. You (together with daghlian) see it quite clearly in issue #7 (granted I had also forgot about it, before going through the issues again).

    • Man, I’m really interested to see what you are referring to about the cherry on the sundae. Haven’t got #11 yet, but it’s in the mail. There is a sundae with a cherry in issue #10 as well. I had wondered if #10 was referencing “Oh, the Thinks You Can Think” by Dr. Seuss, which among a few other thematic and visual elements seen in MP #10, features a sundae with a cherry (or “Schlopp. Schlopp. Beautiful schlopp. Beautiful schlopp with a cherry on top.” as Seuss puts it).

I’m not sure what you are referring to about #7, but maybe I will after I read the latest issue.

You are in for a real treat when you get it! As I said somewhere else, I reread of the series is nice with all of the small seeds Hickman have been planting throughout.

Be sure to let us know what you thought about it when you get it 🙂

    • Yep, another great issue. Definitely deserving of that Eisner nomination. As it turns out, the sundae in this issue had nothing to do with the one depicted in the surrealistic dreamscape of #10. But the food court scene was a humorous one, and the friendship between Fermi and Daghlian is a welcome bit of character development. Looking forward to the next issue.

Next issue seems to be a Fermi centric one, which I really look forward to after this one. Fermi came out as a really sympathetic character.
