Continuing the story from volume one, the story picks up where Mikael Blomkvist is freed from prison and concludes the novel’s adaptation. There is nothing to recap the events of the first volume so you do need to read it before you read volume 2. Overall it is a great adaptation of the novel. It includes everything the movies, both American and Swedish, left out. Such as the Vanger family which I felt were not seen enough of in the movies. There were no changes to the story but the dialogue is different and a lot is left out. Which was cut down because of limit of pages, and causes some key scenes to be rushed. Denise Mina is a great writer although I have never read any of her books, but I still feel like she needs to get used to writing comics.

The art looks good at first glance, but while reading it I noticed a few flaws. There are mostly dialogue scenes and not much action, so during all of the talking there are frames where the characters have a blank stares. The action scenes on the other hand look awesome. Also there are some silent pages where the art really stands out. It was best in volume one, but is volume 2 not so much. Lisabeth Salander and Mikael Blomkist are drawn perfectly.

This is must read for fans of the books or movies. Good graphic novel adaptation. My only complaints are that some parts of the story is rushed which is the same with most other adaptations. Also the team needs more experience working on this kind of comic book genre.

Overall ….Meh.
