Comics are an art form. And there’s no better example of this than The Flash.

This is only issue 2, but already Manapul and Buccellato
are making this a must read. The story is rock solid; a mystery that is challenging the mind of the Scarlett Speedster moreso than his powers. And they are slowly fleshing out the supporting cast, taking care to make them real and feel truly part of Barry’s life. This is a well-crafted work.

But as good as the story is, it’s Manapul’s art that is elevating everything to an even higher level. His use of panels and page space is masterful and reminds me of will Eisner in a lot of ways. Unconventional and beautiful, from cover to final panel, this is a book you drink in as much as you read.

It’s ironic that a book about the fastest man alive can’t have issue three arrive fast enough to suit me. Love this book; easily my pick of the week.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
