Flash #0 was great but, like the other zero issues, it doesn’t answer the questions I wanna know. Like doesBarry know that the timeline has been altered? This issue focuses more on what motivates Barry more than how he became Flash. As a new DC reader I know very little about Barry Allen, but I did know he is a crime scene investigator. There isn’t much of that part of Barry’s life in this issue because most of it takes place when Barry is a kid or in a coma. When Barry is struck by lighting and doused with the chemicals I was thinking where was he? Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato finally return to full on art duties and it’s wonderful. The many panels focusing on small points of interest were missed. Also there was a criminal named Daniel West and every time I hear the name West I think Wally West and hope it’s only a matter of time before we are reintroduced to Wally.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. Agree with your 4/5. It turns out that “Darryl Frye” the man who raised Barry is a long existing character in the Flash mythos, he was even a quirky vigilante named Captain Incredible. Then there’s this new Daniel guy… I’m sure he’s going to be the center of controversy for a while. Nice issue!
