This was it. This was the issue I had been hoping to read since I heard Fraction was going to restart the Defenders. Although the need to get these characters together in dramatic fashion was possibly a necessary component of firing up a group that had been defunct for too many years to count, my enthusiasm was immediately tempered by the overall showing of the first 3 issues. Not exactly spectacular stuff, but not exactly duds either. Now this. Like I said, this was what I had been waiting for: The start of something mysterious, the start of some real development with characters we all love, but for whatever reason, cannot seem to sustain their own ongoing. Aaaahhhh, Dr. Strange, how I have missed thee. Fraction really hit the sweet spot with him in this issue, and I am begging for more. I can only hope to see this kind of story-telling continue, pulling in the other characters further. Seems like there’s a lot to mine here, and after this issue, I am positively optimistic about the future.

  1. I agree.

  2. Ok, I was really underwhelmed by the first two issues and decided not to continue. I may pick this up and give it another chance
