This was really a pleasant surprise. With any “annual,” you never know what you’re getting into. Is it part of the overall story line? Is it a stand alone issue? Does it have anything to do with the monthly at all? Spin the wheel, cough up a little more cash than usual, and find out! Well, I spun this one and was glad I did. Bendis brought back a highly interesting plot line that he started way back at the beginning of this particular renumbering and left the reader with a satisfying ending that promised more without hinting at any obvious future directions. What really pushed this issue for me, though, was the art. Dell’otto made even the actionless pages pop with his heavy-handed inkwork. Kudos, guys.

  1. A solid annual. Glad I got it (and the New Avengers one from several months back).
