As many of you may know if you have read some of my recent comic reviews, I have been on a kick of trying out new comic titles. I have been mainly a DC/Marvel reader most of my comic reading life, however I can say that I have been pleasently suprised by the quality of comics coming out of Image for some time now.

About a month or so ago, when trying out some new books, I picked up issue #1 and #2 of the activity and have been hooked ever since.

Basic premise for this book, is stories dealing with a Black Ops team and its missions.

What makes this book great, is that each issue is pretty much self contained story. You don’t have to have read the previous issue to understand what is going on in the one you are reading, at least as of yet. Lets face it, we are only into issue #4 so far.

Also the stories are self contained, not overlapping from book to book. The story is fast moving in it’s story telling, gives you just enough to make it believable, however it does not load you down with the Black Ops jargon. Not to say that there is no jargon what so ever, but it is sprinkled in just enough to make any novice reader understand the storyline, without getting lost with all the tech talk.

The artwork in each issue takes you into the story as well, which is another plus to this book.

All in all this is a very great blend of story telling, artwork and realism, without going overboard on any of the aspects. Is there blood? Yes. Violence? Yes. For Mature Readers, Yes, however I would say that none of this is overdone to do the “Shock” factor that I have seen in some other comics that deal with these types of storylines.

If you are interested in a new type of comic adventure, looking for something different to read, then I recommend this book to you. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves a good story, I am so glad I took a chance on this book a few months ago.

This may not be getting the buzz of Images new titles like Saga or Manhattan Project (both great books by the way), but this is a comic that ranks right up with those new releases.

Give this book a Try! I think you will really enjoy this one.
