Cosmic Avengers Assemble! You could have put this as the title and it would have passed as such. Although this book do not tie into the Avengers line of books, it sure felt like it.

It’s a testament to Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning’s skill as writers to mold a relatively obscure character like Nova from being a member of a bunch of newbie heroes to leading the galaxy’s mightiest heroes. I enjoyed the fact that the characters themselves recognized this too.

The issue had more than a team assembly though as it offers an answer on how the Cancerverse came to be and how to stop it. And let’s not forget about the fight, which all I can say, was inevitable.

As for the art, I think Miguel Sepulveda’s work is not appreciated as much as it should be. The panel where the members of Nova’s strike force was introduced just blew me away. It had a cinematic feel to it that gave me the chills in a good way that I wish they would have a copy of it in posters.

With all the things it’s got going for it, the Thanos Imperative mini series really is a bang for you buck. If you had to chose only one current mini event to read, I advice that you get this one.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent
