This is my first review for the site, and I read the comic book a few days ago so you’ll have to excuse me if I’m short on examples from the work but I was really moved by this issue and felt it would be a good first review.
The first two issues of this series weren’t bad, and had me interested to find out where they were going, but they didn’t really grab me as fantastic pieces of work. This one is different. Instead of being primarily set up and explanation, we’re starting to get some really fantastic character development. The issue contains what I thought to be a fantastic fight between a soon to be divorced couple, one which I believe to be one of the more realistic arguments between characters that I have seen in a while. The characters come off as very authentic, with real emotions, desires, and a core reason for conflict. I believe this to be true across the board for the issue. While the story doesn’t progress a whole lot, we are also introduced to a new character that could definitely bring a stronger dynamic in terms of conflict to the series. I am now really interested to see where this is going, and to grow closer to these characters.
While I don’t read a whole lot of black and white comics, the art in this seems pretty good for its type. Considering Terry Moore does this book essentially top to bottom, it’s pretty impressive what he can complete in a month’s time. That said I wouldn’t say that it is anything spectacularly beautiful, but it gives the right balance between realistic looking characters and the fantasy of the story.
Definitely looking forward to next issue, and if you haven’t jumped on yet, I’d say now’s the time to go back and find the first three issues.
