I feel like I’ve said this again, but it bears repeating: J.T. Krul’s run on Teen Titans has been a roller coaster for me.  There were times where I loved it, times where I hated it, and times when it was like I had gotten on the kiddie coaster instead of the adult one.  It was ok but not very thrilling.  After the Solstice storyline (which was my time on the kiddie coaster), I toyed with dropping this book, but I decided to stick with it since the story was building up to issue #100.  After finishing this issue, I’m happy with that decision.  The last couple issues haven’t featured Nicola Scott, but they have, instead, featured a very fun story with the return of Superboy Prime.  Superboy Prime is the eternal douche bag of the DCU, so when he’s ready to kick some ass, you know that, ultimately, you’re about to watch him get his ass kicked.  Last issue, he unleashed his Legion of Doom on the Titans, and this issue we see the many fights and moments that spawn from that.  I don’t want to give too much away, but the story is brisk and the character moments are there as the Titans each take on a villain.   Add to that the crazy stuff that happens in the second half of the issue (let’s just say that the Golden Gate Bridge is…well…messed up), and this issue delivered on the entertainment front.  There is one story hiccup that threw me off.  Halfway through the issue, the story jumps from the Titans fighting to the villains flying toward Titans Tower.  It was a jarring moment, and I had to flip back to make sure I didn’t miss anything.  It didn’t bother me too much, but obviously, it keeps the story from flowing.  The art is solid this issue with Jose Luis filling in.  While he doesn’t have the “epicness” that Nicola Scott brings, he still draws in a bombastic way, choosing layouts and spreads that fill the pages and make the action exciting.  The book is really well drawn, and I loved the final two page spread at the end of the issue.  I’m looking forward to issue 100, and I hope is ends up being a special way to send off these characters.
