I have a feeling a lot of people are going to find “The Culling” an apt title for this event. Because, like the organization in the book (all of them), this is N.O.W.H.E.R.E.

It tries. There’s action. There’s explostions. There’s team-ups and future set ups. But like many summer blockbusters that share thoese characteristics, where it falls short is on story and character.

Harvest just isn’t very engaging. I get the sense he’s supposed to be sort of like Marvel’s Apocalypse in some respects but he’s just not menacing.

Rather than get too much into detail, I’ll just leave it at this: it wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t good. And I think at this point in comicdom, we all want more than that.

I may be culling some titles from my list soon.

  1. Snappy review, and entirely fair – nice one Metamorphic. The stupidity of this issue was crystalised in the moment when, after telepathically planning a surprise attack, Tyroc and Red Robin shake hands in front of Harvest. Dumb.

  2. Thanks! And great point about the handshake!

I used to love the Teen Titans and the Legion. These days, not so much. Disappointing.
