Bendis made me regret not picking up his Takio graphic novel. This first issue gives you all the info you need to know (or in this case, I need to know, having not read the previous story arc) without making it feel like he’s recapping a story. I’m so impressed with this all-ages book that I’m immediately picking up the graphic novel. And I mean immediately. I can see it from where I’m typing.

This is definitely a kids’ book, but it’s one that doesn’t seem to talk down to the reader. It simplifies. It doesn’t over-simplify.

I’m also excited to have another female-centric comic book for kids that I can recommend.

Basically, this book lives up to the promise of being a collaboration between Bendis an Oeming. Five stars.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent
