Is Alan Moore getting a royalty here? This is an intersting series, and I am not going to pick on more than that. Is it a homage? If so, when are they going to start the real series, because right now Moore and Steve Bissette should be getting royalties and the title should be renamed, REDONE Swamp Thing.

  1. Don’t be so hard on the new Swampy book, even though it does sometimes feel like the creators read through the Saga of Swamp Thing collections and wrote a version for the new millenium. I REALLY liked this book before Alec Holland turned green, and I’m looking forward to this thing getting back on track with its character developement. Swamp thing needs to be about people and horror, I’ve never looked at him as a superhero, and hope I never have to. Boy, that Alan Moore Swamp Thing is good….

  2. Yeah, the Moore nostalgia on this series is almost oppressively thick. Even when Snyder is changing the mythology a bit to switch things up… the whole mood, feel, and prose of the book feels like someone aping Moore circa 1985.

But if you’re going to crib off something, may as crib off my favorite run of all time. It’s still a good comic series, I’d say. Definitely. But I just don’t think it’s very original.
