The first part of this review will be spoiler free. For those of you still on the fence about buying Swamp Thing, this is what I have to say to you. BUY IT! You will not regret this purchase. With excellent story telling and masterful artwork, this book is a must buy. This part of the review will have some spoilers. I named this book my pick of the week for 2 reasons. Scott Snyder, and Yanick Paquette. The artwork is some of the best of the new 52, the panneling flows smoothly, the characters emotions are striking, and the action scenes are beautifully... creepy. Not enough can be said for Paquette's work. On the writing side of things, Scott Snyder can do no wrong. This book marks the completion of the first arc and it did not disappoint. Alec has finally answered the call of the Green, and the Green took over with a vengeance, poor poor piggy. The origin story for the parliament of tree's was very well done, it was short and sweet. Now knowing that the Parliament is actually made up of the local tribe's people adds a whole new level of creepy to the book. I am very interested to see the Animal Man, Swamp Thing team up in the near future. The 2 books just have a very similar chemistry. So if you are reading this and are not currently treating yourself to the Animal Man books, please stop and go buy it now. They compliment each other very nicely. In conclusion, I would give Swamp thing two big vines up. The future is very bright for the book.
