I re-discovered this series almost a year ago and was drawn to it because it was just plain fun. Two of my favorite superheroes, lots of action, crazy situations and lots of guest cameos from all the obscure corners of the DCU. Unfortunately we didn’t get any of that this time around.

The plot centers around Clark Kent traveling to Gotham (by train) to do some investigative reporting about Batman going bad. He finds his friend Bruce Wayne on the run from the cops and trying to figure out how to fix a crucial mistake he made back in the beginning of his Bat Career that is giving him real problems in the present.

The story was ok for what it was, even though i felt some of the plot elements were a little cliche. It was just missing that one crucial element; FUN. This kind of serious detective story is not what i expect or want from Superman/Batman, especially when there are only a few issues left.

The art was very ok and bordering on inconsistent especially in the faces. The coloring and lettering, while of professional quality were a bit flat and generic. Overall kind of a forgettable issue that wound up being a poor man’s Detective Comics.
