Another one-and-done issue of SUPERMAN/BATMAN this time around. And again, that's certainly not a bad thing.
Set in the near future, we're presented with a DC universe taken over by a single powerful villain. This time, it's not Darkseid or Monarch or even Emperor Joker. It's Gorilla Grodd. An odd choice, but I'll buy it. Superman's gone and every other hero was killed during Grodd's take-over. In the end, I found this issue to be a story that has been done before and done better. One Batman against the world is an okay story, but not one I needed to read again.
Favorite line of the book: "Kneel before Grodd."
The art, however, was great. Batman jumping through a window is a cliche by this point, but the splash page by Albuquerque made it feel fresh again. But clearly, the winning picture of the story is Grodd's face as he hears Superman floating behind him. He's so sad because he knows what's to come.
One last item: How is this book approved by the Comics Code Authority? Did I miss something and was Grodd not sitting on a pile of skulls? Did Joker not have freaky scars around his mouth? That qualifies but something like ADVENTURE COMICS #1 or BATGIRL #1 doesn't? I just don't get it.
Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

I agree, lets get a story going already. Hell lets catch up with the rest of DCU
I think this was a really fun issue!! The best $3 I spent this week. Well actually it came out last week but still, that week. As my memory serves me anyway, oh well.
