I'm always impressed when this series delivers.
This book is best read just as something fun and trying to shove it into current continuity kind of diminishes what it's trying to do, which, to me, is just make a fun book with Clark and Batman.
This book is one of the few books that I think DC puts out that is able to actually deliver on DC's actually having a more powerful universe. JLA is currently fighting Shadow Thief and, story quality aside, he is not a villain worthy of the premier team in this universe. Dr. Dee, however, is classic Silver Age level with modern tweaks that keeps him relevant and intimidating.
I loved the gimmick of these last 2 issues, and the Brotherhood of Injustice hit just the right notes, though I think the fact that they had to dip into Clark's friends for some of the villain mergers underlines how weak his book is from time to time.
Still, loved the art and it was just fun.
