So, I’ve been staying with Superman throughout the “Grounded” storyline only to see this train wreck through. When I picked up the most recent issue, I was surprised to see that it was an interlude of sorts. Instead and Superman walking the Earth (like Kane in Kung Fu), we get a great little story about Krypto the Superdog. The story tells the lost tale of Krypto’s time after Superboy is killed by Superboy Prime and Superman is off doing whatever it is that he was doing. Kurt Busiek weaves a really great story about the friendship between Krypto, Superboy, and Superman. One of my favorite scenes is Superboy grabbing a man hole cover for The Dog of Steel to play fetch with. Rick Leonardi’s art was an interesting choice. I haven’t seen this guy since “Spider-Man 2099”, so that was nice little throw back. Overall, this was a nice change of pace from the train wreck that is “Grounded”.
