This issue was like a sampler platter at the grocery store. You get all
sorts of tastes of what's in store but nothing really satisfies.
This issue started out so promising. It looked like we were finally going to get a huge kick ass action sequence. I loved that Steel being kicked broke the panels. It was probably the most innovative used of lay out I've seen in years.
So of course that was over with about a page later.
Then we got all these little vignettes that would make for interesting little hooks in a zero issue or Free comic book day give way ashcan, but were incredibly nothing in the context of the story.
Jump cutting from the Guardian debriefing the science police to going on a play date with Dr. Light to all the other stuff didn't really give the book any sense of uniformity. The worst part of this was when Sodam and Tellos had their meeting in space. It was positively British in it's lack of any pathos between the characters.
The last issue had a great feel with all the short scenes in different places because it was focusing on Mon El instead of just jumping heedlessly. This issue was the exact opposite of that.
