Reading Superman certainly is a chore these days.

Before I crack the book open I have to resign myself to only focusing on the comic for the next 1/2 hour – try not to let anything deter my attention away from it.

Turn off the TV
unplug the phone
close the blinds

okay, all ready to read Superman.

See, fucking chore I tell you. But it’s worth the hassle, because once you get into the story and read at the pace that George Perez is demanding that you read at, the comic is pretty damn fun.

Superman fighting fire monsters, Ice monsters, invisible monsters…. shit, what’s not to love about that?

This comic is not breaking new ground, and could probably benefit from a 3 page action scene with no words to read, but I still feel like I get my moneys worth.

  1. Good review. almost didn’t buy it and to be honest I didn’t need to buy it. but there is potential for this to get better. George Perez may not be doing a good job but I did like Nicola Scott on art.

    • It will be interesting when Perez leaves the book after issue 6 and Kieth Giffen takes over to see how things will change. Will Giffen keep the “wordiness”? Or streamline things and jettison some weight?
