I've been on board with this series since issue #1. Mark Millar hasn't been my favorite writer as of late, but when I heard that he was doing his own creator owned series about a character similiar to Superman I couldn't help but be curious to check it out.
Right after reading the first issue, I felt that this book felt remarkebly like the Tom Hanks movie "Big", but instead of Tom Hanks becoming an middle aged guy, he became a full fledged superhero. Hell of an idea eh? Not only is the story telling solid by Millar, but Lenil Yu brings the ruckus on every issue. Every panel in this book is absolutely fantastic.
I am also really into the idea of how Superior wants to directly work for the U.S. government ( I laughed out loud when I saw Obama in this book). I really loved the scene when Superior took the neighborhood bully to the North Pole for a time out. "P-p-please...I'm freezing to death. I-I-I can't breathe." " Quiet, man. I'm counting to a hundred and twenty."
My hat is off to Mark Millar and Lenil Yu on this book. Can't wait to see the developments of the satan worshipping monkey that gave Superior his powers.
Yep, its that kind of book.
