I feel Millar is a love him or hate him writer. I’m rarely in the middle about his books. I hate Wanted, Nemesis, and even his new magazine, Clint. On the other hand, I love the first two Ultimates and Kick-Ass. The new Ultimate Avengers is just mediocre. But this book seems like it could be his best book yet. Its a genuinely heart felt and good book. The main character is very likeable and I felt bad for him. I liked his friend, and I even liked the fake out in the beginning. I was wondering how the magic wish was going to work, and I have no problem how Millar did it. It totally fits and its got this sense of wonder and magic to it that this book seems like it will have.
Also, Yu’s art is fantastic! Superior looks great, and his actions scenes are phenominal. The page with the train was great, you can really feel the impact. The only problem I had with this book was that it felt too short. I really wish this was more than a miniseries, and I’m totally onboard for the rest of the series.

Story: 5 - Excellent

  1. After reading this book I couldn’t but to think of an old sci-fi classic…..can anyone say The Last Star Fighter?
