The latest issue of Supergirl gave me everything I could ask for in a great story. The memories Kara experiences again in the first few pages gives us more insight into her character and her life back in Krypton. Her encounter with Black Banshee in this world is fast-paced and full of action. The art, however, is the real standout element of this issue. Mahmud Asrar's art is so full of life and expression, completed so beautifully by Dave McCag's colors. The bright oranges of the Firefalls, the purple hues of the Crystalline Forest, and the deep black of the flame-dragon are all so striking, it makes me hungry for more stories set in the Kryptonian landscape. The only criticism I would have is that the last-page cliff-hanger was a little too obscure to provoke the type of anxiety that makes you excited for the next issue. Nevertheless, consider me on board if only for Asrar's art. To repeat an often-used dictum on this site, Mahmud Asrar can draw all the comics, particularly if Dave McCaig is coloring them.
