I am quickly tiring of this series. What was one of the obvious
marriages of 2 concepts that have been really working for comics in the
last 5 years or so does not seem to work here.

This series just seems
like a long drawn out super hero civil war (insert CW joke), which
might have worked if we had any investment in the characters. I know
that is kind of cheap considering this is by a lower tier publisher,
but since this series has stopped doing the tags when heroes walk into
the room I’ve honestly forgotten who 80% of them are. Where Marvel’s
Civil War might have some obscure villain you hadn’t heard of show up,
you could at least look it up online and find previous appearances.
Here it’s just “Well, here’s another costume and power set, have fun
with it.”

Plus, with the Promethean scenes at least, it’s getting
incredibly pretentious. Quotes from the Odessy and inside pyramids
might seem deep and insightful, but are not that interesting.

The art
is fine. More than fine actually, I quite like it. It has a good dark
feel to it and the gore isn’t too over the top. It is realistic without
sacrificing action.

I’ll probably pick up the next issue, but I hope it
becomes more engaging soon.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 4 - Very Good
