This book is Toy Story. This book is the Wizard of Oz. This book is creepy as fuck. But most of all this book is a phenomenal blend that’s more human than anything I’ve read in a long time. By contrasting the toy’s terrifying adventures with boys whose father is off in World War II the book makes a subtle allegory. Look at how the pig is simply used and then broken. Look at the mayor’s feeble power grab when the true ruler doesn’t give a damn. Look at the oppressed Gingerbread Man.

I’m also loving the price point of this comic. 56 gorgeous story pages for $5? Hell yeah!
