Every Wildstorm title this month so far seems to be on their “A-game”.  So far we’ve gotten incredible issue of Wildcats, The Authority, and now Stormwatch has joined the group.  What has made all the issues this month so great is that they are paying off things that have been set up since the beginning of World’s End while at the same time, setting up new situations that have been nothing short of intense.  Here we begin with a nice dichotomy to what’s happening in the real world as Jackson King’s methods for interrogation come into question.  It is really starting to have a Battlestar Galactica feel to it where it seems every five minutes we have a moral dilemma.  And Jackson King seems to always be at the center of these dilemmas and it’s very interesting to see him going down this dark path (although, those who have read the backup stories, know why this is happening).  Speaking of the backup stories, it was also cool to see how the events of the “Dane: Loyalties” backup story fit into the grand scheme of things in this issue.

We also get a neat little segue that continues the subplot with The High where we finally get to see his lair.  I don’t think it’s ever been shown so that was cool to see.  Plus what The High does is very reminiscent of another famous caped superhero’s decision in his well-known movie series.  You’ll see.

But the Coup de Grâce was definitely the moment between King and Winter at the end.  Remember those dilemmas I mentioned earlier?  Well, let’s just say King opened up a whole new can of worms between him and Winter.  It’s such an awesome moment and all I’ll say is that the display of power rivals what we saw King unleash during the Authority/Stormwatch crossover a few issues back.

It’s a shame this is now bi-monthly (I actually had to go back and reread what happened before since it’s been two months).  But if sales increase, maybe they’ll put it back on a monthly schedule.  This is such an underrated book and I wish more people would give it a chance.
