The Stormwatch/Authority crossover ‘continues’ with the current issue. This crossover between these two teams is in stark contrast to the Authority: Prime mini series, where these characters last met. A few things have changed since the last crossover, Armageddon has changed the landscape of the entire world and there has been a total role reversal with Stormwatch orbiting the Earth and Authority now Earthbound. This crossover has a unique twist to it, where each title tells the same story from the titles point of view and while there are some over lapping scenes, there some also new scenes to make it different enough from the Authority issue. So if you are just buying one title, you won’t miss out on the story, but if you get both titles the story is more rounded out. If you read the Authority (#6) issue, then you know the basic story of King offering Authority and offer to bring them out of the darkness if they can unload some of their refugees, but in this issue we get to see an Authority member offer to bury the hatchet and leave that past in the past.

The creative on Stormwatch have been doing a good job with this series, Edginton has been doing a great job driving a character driven series with the Armageddon backdrop and I would like to see more Link and Midnighter based on the current issue. Fernandez continues to put out some great line work and keeping the dark tone of the carrier’s interior. This layouts during the dialog heavy scenes because they’re not just the same panels over and over with new word balloons, he does a stellar job showing the characters emotions as they react to the dialog. I wish more folks were reading this title because its just to good to disappear.
