I’ve should have known when it said “based on the video game” on the cover. The story, satisfying political fare, had promise. Unfortunately it became disjointed with meaningless cuts and descent into Star Wars cliche. And the dialogue… “Anyways”? “Buddy”? Even grunt troopers wouldn’t speak that way. At least in my mind.

The art drew me to and saved this book from the lowest of scores. Ships, cities and costumes stood out. Heads, faces and some action felt uncomfortable. Shading and colors made me warm inside, like the art from one of your favorite RPG books as a kid.

Cutting this series to two issues without the more extraneous characters and fewer blank panels might have taken this book to average, possibly above average territory. Can’t recommend it as is though.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 3 - Good

  1. can you recommend any star wars comics that i can pick up in trade or omnibus without having to know all about the expanded universe continuity?  i’m interested in reading some, but when i saw this was based on a game, i decided not to.

  2. Off hand, grab Star Wars Purge: The Hidden Blade. It’s the one-shot, Jonah Hex of Star Wars comics.

  3. Whoops, skipped over "trade or omnibus." Can’t say I’ve read any, sorry.

  4. Try the Legacy comics. They take place 100 or so years after the original trilogy so are pretty unconnected to most of the rest of the EU.

  5. awesome, thanks!  I’ll look out for those.  thanks guys!
