There is something to be said for a long running story
coming to an end. I’ve been reading Legacy since the preview issue #0 came out.
I was very disappointed to see that the series was being cancelled at issue 50
but then was heartened to see that the story would be finished in this
miniseries. Picking up this issue brought an excitement that I rarely get from
any other comic. With the story ending anything could happen. While it might
seem a foregone conclusion that the heroes would when, would they make it out
alive to live happily ever after?

With this finale Legacy War was able to fully capture the
feel and spirit of the most epic moments from the original trilogy. There are echoes
of both the Empire Strikes Back and return of the Jedi in the final battle
without feeling like it was just rehashing the battles in those movies. Massive
space and ground battles take place while lightsabers clash and the darkside
tempts a Skywalker. A couple of surprising twists are thrown in and even R2-D2
pitches in as always to help save the day.

John Ostrander has a grasp for the Star Wars Universe that
only a few other authors, in comics or novels, seem to have. He has always been
able to balance the personal struggle of Cade Skywalker and his legacy with
good swashbuckling outer space action. Jan Duursema returns to draw the characters
she helped create and they are fittingly perfect.

This mini, like the series that preceded it, was always good
and often great and this issue was the finale all of the fans were hoping for.
If you are a fan of Star Wars, the movies, the books or the comics, do yourself
a favor and go back and read Star Wars: Legacy from the start. I guarantee you
won’t regret it.
