The first all-original arc of the series comes to a close, and it’s kind of a lame close, really. I appreciate that there should be occurrences in this timeline that didn’t even come close to happening in the original, but so far as story quality is concerned, this issue does not really come through with the potential left by #7, or maintaining the quality of previous stories.

I can’t entirely say that I’m not maybe a bit biased – we see a lot of Romulans in this issue. Considering that (save for Nero) this is the first contact between the Federation and the Romulan Empire in over a century, it seems like there should be a lot more to it.
