The art really captures the look and feel of the original series tv show. The stark backgrounds resemble the sets used and the colors remind me of that slightly washed out tone of the early color tv shows.
The story is really well conveyed in comic book form with its slight differences reflected in the fact this is an alternate universe from the original shows. The couple of verbal jokes are actually funny which I think is difficult to pull off in comics. The moment of Spock’s blindness doesn’t have quite the impact it did on the TV show but it’s pretty close. I still think it’s funny Spock is in bed with Nyota Uhura but that’s this particular time line so I’ll go with it.
All in all a great job by artists Joe Corroney and John Rauch and writer Mike Johnson. This could well have been a really dull retread of old stories and characters but it’s become something pretty special.
